“Every product, every action, and every lifestyle decision can be a choice to harm less.”
Hey guys! You have probably noticed that in each blog I include a section stating whether or not the product used is Vegan and/or Cruelty-Free and I just wanted to explain why this is. Don’t worry I’m not going to rant on about the importance of cruelty-free shopping; it’s pretty obvious why we should- why should an animal be harmed/ tested on/ killed just so we can wear lipstick? However I just wanted to let you all know how easy it is to shop cruelty free, as I had no idea how easy it was. To clarify; cruelty-free is a label for products that do not test on animals whereas Vegan products are those that does not contain any animal ingredients or animal derived ingredients e.g. honey, beeswax, collagen, carmine, cholesterol, gelatin, and many others.
I think a big reason why cruelty-free shopping is not that often a consideration when buying make-up is due to the common misconception that there are only a few niche cruelty free/vegan cosmetic brands. This is even what I thought when I first started getting into make-up. However a quick Google search challenged this view.
PSA; there are SOOOOOOO many cruelty-free/vegan brands out there.
Honestly you wouldn’t even expect how many there are- even big brand names such as Urban Decay. It’s slightly harder to find both cruelty free AND vegan products, however the amount of products that don’t test on animals is amazing. Rather than me drone on and on about it, I thought I’d link a few of my favourite websites/blogs which explain more about the importance of making conscientious and cruelty-free choices and also provide comprehensive lists of brands which are against animal testing!
